Year 6 Young Leaders Sports Crew
Everyday on the back playground, sports leaders play a fun game to inspire younger children to get involved and to make sure they are playing with somebody. SPORTS LEADERS IS REALLY FUN!!!!!
We have been doing different sports to inspire children younger than us to get them to try and be like us and enjoy themselves every day. There are different people on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Me and my friends Sophie and Alice do it on Wednesdays.
We are young leaders that play with Reception to Year 2's every lunchtime. My name is Damian and my experiences with the younger lot are amazing because you can help children that may be bored at lunchtime or maybe they're having a bad day and I hope I can turn their frown upside down and entertain them. My personal favourite thing about Young Leaders is that we can use different equipment and play with the children.
Every lunchtime me and the other Sports Crew go out onto the playground and play games with the younger children. It's really fun! It's inspiring for the younger kids because they might want to be Young Leaders when they are older.
I love doing Young Leaders and the children enjoy it too. We have been playing Captain's Coming, Skipping, Simon Says, Statues, Dishes and Domes, Bunny Bounce, Tail Tag and Hula Hooping. I think that it is good to do this because it inspires younger children so they might like to be a young leader when they are older.
It's been really fun being a Young Leader because when me and Gabi go out and we put down the hula hoops, they are always so excited so they start hula hooping which is really cute. The past couple of weeks we have had a good experience with the Year 1s, Year 2s and Year 3. They all say "Are you here tomorrow?" and we have to say "No it's someone else" and they say "Awwww :(" it's really cute. I love being a young leader.
Every day young leaders go on the back playground. We get lots of Year 1, 2 and 3 children and sometimes Year 4 and 5 children join in. I have lots of fun.
The Young Leaders are Year 6's who give up their lunch times to play games with the younger children. It is really fun!! The younger children enjoy it.
The younger children love all the games such as Captains Coming, Skipping, Simon Says, Statues and more! I love it because I get to be with Different children. It helps younger people have better behaviour on the playground and it gets them to play together and helps them communicate with other children.
In Sports Leaders we go on to the KS1 playground and play games such as Tail Tag, Captain's Coming and Traffic Lights. I enjoy this because you get to use different equipment as well as playing different games each week.
I feel that Young Leaders is a good opportunity but I don't like giving up too many of my lunchtimes. The young people are fun to play with and do games with.
Yr5/6 Festival of Rugby October 10th
I don’t like Rugby, however it was actually alright, as we got to miss work.
We lost every single game but each game we kept improving and trying. I was really pleased to have scored 2 tries.
I would have enjoyed it more if it was football but it was good to try out and learn a new sport. Plus it was nice to represent the school.

Yr3/4 Football Competition October 3rd
What an amazing football tournament Y3 and Y4 took park in. The tournament was held at The Parker School. The Grange had 2 teams in the tournament and we came 2nd and 7th out of 10 teams. All the players played very well and showed great sportsmanship. I can't wait for the next tournament. It was so much fun!
Sam - Year 4
Today was the day of the football tournament at Parker E-ACT. We met in the KS2 hall to put on our football kits which made me feel excited because I was representing the school. At first I was nervous playing against other schools but after a while of playing I wasn't nervous because we worked as a team to achieve lots of goals. The football tournament was really fun playing against others and being challenged.
Thomas - Year 4
I really enjoyed playing in the football tournament and being in goal and midfield. This is the first time I have played in a football tournament and I was really happy that I saved goals and also scored a goal. I really enjoyed making new friends and also playing with friends that I haven't played with for quite a long time.
Loads of Mums and dads from The Grange school came to watch and they all cheered us on. It was really loud and I had such a great time.
Oliver - Year 3
I really enjoyed playing football, I recommend other people having a go and trying their best.
It has given me a bit more confidence in playing and it is nice that you get your friends cheering you on and being supportive.
I had lots of fun!
George - Year 3
I was in a football tournament, we played for our school - The Grange.
There was seven teams all from different schools. We played four matches, we won all of them and was in the final. We played the match and it was 0-0 so it went to penalties. Our goalkeeper saved four but didn't save the last one so the other team won.
I was happy we got to the final but was sad that we lost on penalties.
Craig - Year 4
There were 2 teams, The Grange A and The Grange B. Grange A came 2nd and Grange B came 7th. I was in Grange B and I scored the first winning goal! I really enjoyed it and it was good to be part of a team. I loved the trip.
Hayden - Year 3
I really enjoyed taking part in the football tournament, because I played with my friends and we only conceded one goal and that was in penalties.
We won all our games and got into the final, we played well as a team. We lost in the final which I was disappointed at as I know we could have done better and even won it. I felt really safe because my dad helped coach the team. I was really pleased to be selected to play football for the school.
